We are thrilled to announce that 4MileCircus is an official sponsor of the 2016 Ax Wound Film Festival! Ax Wound is a day of short horror films by women filmmakers from across the globe, presented by Women in Horror Month. This year’s festivities kick off on Saturday, November 5th at the Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro, Vermont.
4MC is delighted to support this awesome event and we will both be in attendance. We hope to see some of you there! We have some special stuff planned for attendees and have a few surprises up our sleeves. Stay tuned for more details on what to expect on our end at this year’s event 😉
I (Nicole) screened my short film Small Talk at last year’s inaugural fest and had a blast. It was one of the very best festival experiences I had with Small Talk, or ever. I was struck by the quality and creativity of both the films selected and discussions hosted. One memorable highlight was a talk with documentary filmmaker Kristina Leath-Malin about My Final Girl, a look at black women in 70s/80s horror blaxploitation films, facilitated by Ashlee Blackwell of the indispensable Graveyard Shift Sisters blog. I met so many amazing filmmakers and horror fans, and adored the supportive, welcoming environment. If you are a horror filmmaker and/or fan, go go go!
Ax Wound is still accepting submissions through October 1st, too, so if you’re a woman with a horror short to share, send it their way!
